ABOUT YOGA THREE

Chanel Luck and Roberto Lim created YogaThree to help you lead a balanced, stress-free, and inspired life. YogaThree’s mission follows the guiding principles of community, wellness, and travel.

YogaThree accomplishes these objectives by teaching group classes, workshops, and private lessons. They also organize benefits to raise funds and consciousness for charitable interests mainly focusing on children and peace, specifically Trees for the Future, and the Casa De Milagros orphanage in Cusco, Peru.

Together, Chanel and Roberto lead week-long and weekend retreats in locations such as the Catskill Mountains, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Peru. These programs allow students the opportunity to receive impeccable instruction from two topnotch teachers, within an intimate, inspiring, and fun environment.  In addition to in-depth yoga instruction, an emphasis is  placed on healing and relaxation by staffing each retreat with a talented and insightful body-worker.

The pair also publishes a monthly newsletter filled with inspired information related to yoga, music, movies, books, nutrition, and general well being.

HOW WE STARTED

Chanel and Roberto created YogaThree after returning from a vacation near Tierra de Milagros on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.  While there, Chanel, Roberto, and a mutual friend immersed themselves in regular yoga practice and healthful living for ten days.  The experience was so profound that they believed they needed to share it.  Upon returning to the U.S., Chanel and Roberto organized their first retreat, taking a group of students back to the same sacred spot in Costa Rica.

Prior to traveling to Costa Rica, Chanel and Roberto met at the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts where they studied with Baron Baptiste and his senior teachers, and honed their assisting practice during weekly classes of up 80 students, and on teacher trainings and retreats.

The name YogaThree was chosen because of its simplicity and depth of its many meanings, both historically and symbolically. Favorits triads in yoga are: the Hindu Trinity (Trimurti) of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva; the three sounds in AUM; and doshas in Ayurveda.

WELLNESS

With the challenges of city living in the 21st century, Chanel and Roberto believe that yoga is a cornerstone of wellness. They believe that the practices of yoga especially meditation and asana empower each student and cultivate inner peace.

Individually, Chanel teaches at The Sports Club/LA while Roberto teaches at Back Bay Yoga Studio and South Boston Studio. Chanel is also an accomplished bodyworker trained in cranio-sacral therapy. In addition to their classes and one-on-one work, Chanel and Roberto share their wellness experiences in their well loved ( or something to qualify its popularity) monthly newsletter.

COMMUNITY

Chanel and Roberto believe that yoga provides a powerful opportunity to create community.  They raise money and awareness for international organizations by sponsoring annual yoga benefits.  For example, they conduct Community Soul Classes at the start of each New Year to Benefit

Casa de Milagros.

In 2007, they planned, promoted, and executed the first ever-worldwide Global Mala Project Boston , which was one of 300 events, held on September 22.   More than 900 people attended GMP Boston, hailing from 35 different yoga studios all over New England to join Chanel and Roberto and their senior teacher friends for 108 sun salutations during the day and kirtan with Krishna Das in the evening. The event raised over $4,000 for Trees for the Future and War Child International.

Community contains a local and global perspective to Chanel and Roberto. In addition to helping make connections with yogi friends, Chanel and Roberto also raise money and awareness for international organizations by organizing benefits such as a Community Soul Class to Benefit Casa de Milagros in January 2007 and Global Mala Project – Boston 2007 which is part of the international mala of benefits on September 22, 2007. Community also means everyone is welcome!  They maintain affordable pricing so that retreats are  accessible to all students.

TRAVEL

Chanel and Roberto believe that staying fresh, feeling healthy, and living mindfully are important components to happiness and finding success in life. In their experience, one of the best ways to refresh is to travel away from their daily life for a retreat. While on a retreat, you can relax as your farthest commute is from your beach cabana to the yoga room and all your meals are prepared for you.

Their mission is to share the potential in retreats and workshops as an experience to grow spiritually, connect with like-minded people, and enhance your yoga practice. Each YogaThree retreat is a special event and something which you can drawn upon day-after-day for perspective.

YogaThree retreats are not simply indulgent and enjoyable yoga vacations, they are investments in one’s health and happiness on a broader scale.  Come, join us!

ROBERTO LIM

Roberto teaches vinyasa yoga and invites each student to connect to their inner flow. Using music as a backdrop, each of Roberto's classes incorporate opening movements, variations on Surya Namaskars to open the body, vinyasa krama (stages) to build up to a peak pose, and restorative poses to release tension and rejuvenate. He believes in the power of yoga as a practice to heal and strengthen, to heighten consciousness, to find balance by studying opposites, and to transcend boundaries thus liberating oneself. He is inspired by his current teacher, Shiva Rea, and by other teachers such as Barbara Benagh, Ana Forrest, and Tias Little. Roberto is devoted to sharing the many gifts of yoga that he has received through his teachers and practice. www.somavinyasayoga.com
